The documentary "Guitar Legends Through the Electric Age" will air tomorrow (Thursday) at 6:00p.m. Central time on the Documentary Channel. This is channel 197 on the Dish Network. I saw this this a couple of weeks ago. Very good show, with lots of historical footage of guitarists, such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, Les Paul, Robert Cray, Bo Diddley and B.B. King. For me, the best part is when a guitarist is interviewd with his guitar and he explains how a signature riff or sound was developed.
For example, Roger McGuinn of the Birds tells how he was working as a session musician in New York when he heard George Harrison playing his Rickenbacker. McGuinn eventually got a 12-string Richenbacker, combined it with his folk music background, and came up with the distinctive sound the Birds were known for.
From the Documentary Channel: "Through The Electric Age is the definitive story of the development of the guitar through the eyes and ears of its most famous exponents."
Be sure to check it out if you get this channel.
