Last weekend was the annual Barrett-Jackson car auction in Scottsdale, Az. This is a huge auction with live coverage on the Speed Channel. Only this year they included some historic rock 'n' roll items. Included among the pianos and harmonicas, and hundred thousand dollar cars were several guitars, here are a few:Bill Haley's 1940 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar, which is actually Maple (not blue - thanks blogger!), sold for $57,500.00, this also included a bronze statue of Bill Haley playing this guitar. This guitar's serial number is 75258.

George Harrison's12-string Harpitone guitar with case sold for $51,750.00 George Harrison bought this guitar prior to recording the Beatles' White Album.
This is another acoustic once owned and signed by Geoge Harrison, circa 1964. Don't believe it sold (didn't meet reserve).
This is a Squire (Fender) electric signed by Aerosmith that was also up for auction. I don't believe it sold either.
"Barrett-Jackson made history last night by hosting its first Rock memorabilia auction," said Craig Jackson, CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Auction Company. "We intend to cultivate this genre of collectables with as much passion as we have for the collector car industry."
