This is a 1982 Fender Standard Stratocaster that I bought in May, 2007. It has an Alder body, Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard. Also came with the original case (OHSC).
This is what many refer to as the "Smith" Strat, to distinguish it from the Stratocasters made immediately before and after it. Dan Smith was the director of marketing at Fender who implemented the design of the Standard Stratocaster. Compared to its predecessors, the Smith Strat has a smaller headstock, 4 bolt neck, body end truss rod adjustment (no bullet) and the X-1 bridge pickup.
This design is the precursor to the 1987 American Standard Stratocaster .

I think you need a few more guitars!!!
Does your Smith Strat have staggered height poles or are the poles on the pickups flush? I just got an '82 Smith Strat. The neck date and body dates are correct, but I think the pickups may not be original. Do yours have part number stamps on 'em?
